Piers Slater

  • Piers founded Reef Estates in 2001, growing the business to a significant real estate operation with over £2 billion under development management. In 2024 he formally rebranded to Reef Origin to mark the increased activity in the digital and energy infrastructure and technology sectors since 2020.  The current completed enterprise value of the portfolio value currently exceeds £25 billion under development management focusing on platforms with operational and specialist expertise in the real estate, digital and energy infrastructure, life science, Industry 5.0, resources and technology sectors.

    He is also Co-founder and Chief Executive of Perpetual Atomics, a spin out form University of Leicester, where he invested in the founder team and technology and is supporting the scale up and commercialisation globally.

    Reef Origins investment philosophy and activities operate at the crossroads of the digital, knowledge, carbon and real-world asset economies aligning with Xange.com who focus on Environmental Intelligence Software and Market Infrastructure solution, where Reef Origin is the founder investor since 2023 and Piers Slater a Director working with the Board to deliver a carbon mitigation pipeline of $100Bn+. 

    Piers is a Chartered Surveyor, holds a BSc (Hons) in Estate Management from Liverpool John Moores University and an MSc in Property Investment (Finance) from Cass Business School. He sits on the Boards of Didcot First and the Stevenage Development Board.

Eleanor Alexander

  • Eleanor joined Reef in 2019 and has 15 years of multi-sector design, construction and delivery experience across complex developments projects. Her role spans large-scale urban regeneration, hotels, life science and digital infrastructure, leading multi-disciplinary teams and formulating Reef Origin’s sustainability strategy (“Origin”), which is central to the group’s investment framework.

    She also leads the design direction of A Place Apart, Reef Origin’s hospitality platform, focused on repurposing existing assets to minimise embodied carbon. 

    Eleanor holds qualifications in Sustainable Investing and Construction Law & Dispute Resolution, in addition to a BArch and BA (Hons) in Architecture from the University of Manchester.

Will Rohleder

  • Will began his real estate career at ING Real Estate before moving into development, and now has over 15 years of development experience with a reputation for structuring complex transactions.

    His responsibilities span the full development lifecycle: sourcing, planning, funding and delivery. He leads Reef’s joint venture with UBS, a £3 billion life science and digital infrastructure platform with schemes in Stevenage (including a £60 million advanced manufacturing cell and gene therapy facility leased to Autolus plc), North London, Cambridge and Oxford.

    He has led and delivered schemes across most asset classes with a combined value in excess of £1 billion, including over 800 hotel rooms across six UK schemes. 

    Will holds a degree in Economics from the University of Exeter, a Masters in Property Valuation and Law from Cass Business School, and is a Member of the RICS.

Jason Russell

  • Jason has 26 years of industry experience in design and construction across diverse sectors. 

    He joined Reef in 2006 following a period at Laing O’Rourke and was appointed Head of Design and Construction in 2015 where he has grown and led a multi-disciplinary construction team. His international experience spans education, science, healthcare and government projects in New Zealand, Canada and Trinidad.

    At Reef, Jason has led delivery across large-scale urban regeneration, life science, advanced manufacturing, hotels, digital and clean energy infrastructure, now including nuclear SMR projects.

    He holds a Dip Arch Tech (NZQA) qualification.

Ed Slater

  • Ed has a background in audit and risk management from his time as Audit Manager at Smith & Williamson (now Evelyn Partners) in London and at Goldstein Golub Kessler LLP in New York, preceding his role as Group Financial Controller at Financial Objects Limited (now part of Temenos UK).

    He joined Reef in 2006 and leads all financial due diligence at acquisition across real estate, infrastructure and corporate transactions, including business plans, financial risk management, appraisals and cash-flow forecasting. Post-transaction, Ed monitors performance against budgeted appraisals and leads all tax structuring and funding of transactions.

    He holds a degree in Geography from King’s College London and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA).
